Bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BM-MSC) proliferation and lineage commitment are under the coordinated control of metabolism epigenetics; MSC niche contains low oxygen, which is an important determinant cellular metabolic state. In turn, drives fate decisions via alterations chromatin landscape. Due to fundamental role BM-MSCs in development adipose tissue, bones cartilage, age-associated changes epigenome perturb balance between differentiation leading depletion, fat accumulation bone-quality related diseases. Therefore, understanding dynamics metabolism-chromatin interplay crucial for maintaining pool delaying progression ageing.
